Maersk imposes new shipping charges

They range from $300 to $500

Maersk has recently issued a notice of Toronto/Montreal shipping charges for MPT customers.

As conditions at the ports of Prince Rupert and Vancouver continue to deteriorate, with import container dwell times at record levels, CN Rail will take several steps to restore the mobility of the transport network by establishing multiple rescue container dumps to which cargo can be diverted, the notice said.

CN Rail will therefore charge for transporting the containers to the designated yard. The fee comes into effect on August 9, 2022, and will apply to all Store door cargo delivered by Maersk designated truckers, also known as MPT (Maersk Preferred Truckers), and containers will also have to be rerouted to one of the rescue container yards.

As part of the billing process, this delivery/shipping fee will be expressed as an additional import service.

The following charges will be charged for containers destined for the rescue container yard:

• CN Rail Mississauga: $300

• Container Storage Solutions (Brampton): $300

• Paul Transport: $300

• CN Valleyfield (Montreal): $550

The free time for railway storage in these locations has also been reduced from two days to one day.

Hebpert adjustment

Take consumption, loss of cargo and compensation

In addition, the shipping company Heberot also recently issued a consumption, loss of cargo and compensation adjustment notice.

The QQSpot (instant quotation tool) will be adjusted to take into account the changes in the market environment, the notice said. This is the third time this year that Haberrot has adjusted fees.

The charges applied will apply worldwide and will be calculated as a percentage per container.

Update of Fees in Mainland China: The adjustment of charges, charges for loss of cargo and compensation at the loading port in mainland China will take effect from August 4, 2022. Please refer to the following details:

• Charge: 5% sea freight + fuel surcharge

• Loss charge: 10% sea freight + fuel surcharge

• Compensation: 5% sea freight + fuel surcharge

In order to maintain balance, there will be a ceiling and a floor for the above percentage billing amount: a ceiling of $1200 and a floor of $200.
