Publish Time: 2025-06-09     Origin: Site

Rooted in the ancient Chinese wisdom of "eating seasonally for optimal health," walnut shell hard-boiled eggs emerge as one of summer's most prized medicinal foods. This seemingly humble remedy is in fact a potent fusion of nutrition and traditional medicine.

Ingredients

Walnut shells (from 6–8 walnuts + diaphragm—the most nutritious part)

4–6 eggs

1 tsp salt

2 tbsp soy sauce or light soy sauce

1L water

Steps

1. Prepare the shells

Wash walnut shells thoroughly, gently brushing crevices with a toothbrush. Break into small pieces ( Keep the diaphragm inside). Soak in cold water for 30 minutes to remove impurities.

2. Simmer the shells

Add shells and water to a pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce to low heat. Simmer covered for 1 hour until the broth turns dark brown, releasing nutrients.

3. Cook the eggs

Rinse eggs, place in cold water with 1 tsp salt. Boil 10 minutes until fully cooked.

4.Lightly crack shells all over (for better flavor absorption).

5.Turn off heat and soak for 4+ hours (Overnight is best).

Pro Tip:

The diaphragm (brown membrane inside the shell) is the key medicinal component—never discard it!
