According to the data, the current European freight rate has increased by 170% compared with the same period last year, and the Mediterranean freight rate has increased by 203 % compared withe the same period last year. Not only that, the big ship companies have recently issued the notice of port stoppage and increase in 2021.

Maersk

Maersk announced a new peak season surcharge (PSS) for Europe and East Asia from December to next year.

Suitable for frozen cargo from far East to northern and southern European countries.

The surcharge will be $1000/20 'RC, $1500/40' RC and will take effect on December 15, Taiwan PSS will take effect on January 1, 2021.

In addition, on December 1st, Maersk announced that immediate adjustments to the service network were necessary due to fluctuating market demand and operational challenges caused by the COVID-19 , including congestion in the global supply chain.

Maersk will change the scope of its services at selected Asian ports from 50 weeks.

Changes to the service will remain in effect until further notice.

Heperot announces rates for all 20' and 40' (high container) goods in westbound trade from East Asia (including Japan) to Northern Europe and the Mediterranean.
